"Relieved to have been heard and understood"

About: Mental Health / Adult Autism Services

(as a service user),

I was recently assessed by the adult autism team at Eastwood, South Glasgow. In the end I didn't meet the threshold for a diagnosis of autism, but discovered that I probably have ADD and was referred onwards for further assessment.

I can't praise the team highly enough. I was assessed by Jamie and Kyra, and they really listened to me and were obviously very interested in getting me the correct diagnosis. I've often felt fobbed off by health professionals, but this was absolutely not the case here. I got an 8 page report and a further appointment to allow me to raise any further issues or queries, and feel confident my case was taken seriously, and relieved to have been heard and understood.

Dear Jacqueline82,

My name is Chris Cole and I am the Service Manager for Adult Autism for East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership.

I was delighted to read about your recent assessment experience at Eastwood. I appreciate your journey has not ended and you have a further assessment for ADD to follow.

The assessment process that we undertake is a thorough one. I am pleased that you feel confident about the robustness of the process, and that the next steps have been clearly explained. The most pleasing aspect is that you felt heard and understood.

This feedback will be shared with the entire team and thank you for taking the time to provide your views on the service.

Best wishes

Chris
