"Thank you sincerely for all your help and support"

About: CGL Birmingham / South Hub

(as a service user),

I've been having treatment for quite some time for heroin addiction through CGLs methadone programme although it's been a hard slog because of my other disabilities both mental (acute anxiety) and physical conditions (scoliosis and acute asthma, osteoporosis and other age related illness (I am in my 70s, so no spring chicken any more).

Because of the treatment and help I received from CGL and wonderful help from Ollie my case worker, I found myself in a position and a lower enough dosage of methadone to give up the treatment and finally come off it all together, knowing that if I failed CGL were there to step in and help me.

It's been nearly 3 months since I had any methadone and have not felt the need to use any street drugs at all, I still suffer from acute anxiety and am being treated for that by my GP and mental health group.

I can't praise CGL too much they probably saved my life, Keep up the good work and thank you sincerely for all your help and support.

Dear Anthony562

Thank you for getting in touch with us about your experiences.

My name is Lydia and I am responsible for listening and responding to people’s feedback.

It was amazing to read about the fantastic progress you have made in your treatment with us, despite facing extra challenges around your mental and physical health. It must have been so difficult having to manage both your health conditions and anxiety, alongside your need for our support.

It sounds like you handled your reductions to your medication very carefully, and I’m glad that you could make the changes you have made to your dose safely in the knowledge that our service would be there for you if things didn’t go to plan.

Your kinds words about Ollie were really lovely to read. I will make sure he is informed, and I am sure he will be really appreciative of your feedback. I will let his manager know too.

I hope you feel incredibly proud of everything you have achieved, and I would like to congratulate you on your first 3 months of being medication free. I hope that the mental health group you are attending and the support you are receiving from your GP continues to be of benefit to you, and I am sure that if you continue to show the same levels of determination you have to date, you will add many more months and then years onto your time free of substances.

Please do take care and thank you once again for reaching out to us.

Best wishes,

Lydia
