I collapsed while working abroad. I was treated with great care and diagnosed as having a calcified Aorta Valve.
I was moved back to Glasgow courtesy of having travel insurance and was sent to QEUH and then operated on at Golden Jubilee hospital. I was very lucky and treated very well.
While investigating my Valve problem they discovered I had some coronary disease so ended up with a valve replacement and double bypass. I was in my early 60s. I ignored warning signs. I was of the opinion that work and earning came first. I nearly never had the option to do either.
Now I am feeling really well no discomfort or shortness of breath when I exert in any way.I can now walk uphill without stopping desperate for a breath. I have been looked after tremendously well from every angle.
I have enjoyed my Cardio recovery programme which I do once a week At Clydebank Leisure Centre and the staff who run the programme are different class. I can’t thank enough or say enough good things about my treatment, the work done on me and the general care. It is all very humbling,,
