I woke up several mornings in a row unable to exhale properly, I could breathe in but getting the air back out was very hard. On the Friday I started to panic as it was getting very uncomfortable and scary. I already have motor neurone disease, which is not the nicest thing to suffer from.
I went to A&E at 8:15 and there was only 1 other person there, so I got seen immediately. I could just about explain the problem, and they took me in, gave me oxygen and tested for covid. I was positive.
I was in A&E for about 10 hours, while they did numerous tests, hooked me up to an ECG machine, and kept checking me.
After that I was taken to ward 14 and given a room. I was still on oxygen and I was given several different medications during that evening.
They kept me in the ward for four more days, did various tests, took blood several times, including doing an X-ray and cat scan. And gave me anti covid meds.
I was quite impressed with the way I was treated, and how many different people/professionals/ doctors etc came to see me over the next four days. Everybody was friendly and respectful. The room was very nice, with a TV in and private toilet/shower etc. And the food was pretty good.
