"Very supportive and inclusive group"

About: Mental Health / Primary Care Mental Health

(as a service user),

East Renfrewshire ADHD OT SPARKS

Experienced a very supportive, inclusive seven week group, exploring strategies for coping with ADHD. It was beneficial to hear others stories, strategies and experiences.

The facilitators were knowledgeable, clear and compassionate. It was comforting to feel that others understood my experience of moving through the world and that I am not a broken person, not only from the other participants but also from the two facilitators.

Anna and Paul were very thorough, patient with right balance of gravitas and light-heartedness.

I would suggest that it would have been beneficial to have name tags in a group for people with poor working memory.

My other suggestion is simply increased provision and more trained staff so that groups could run for a longer period and an ongoing support/drop-in type group could be established.

Overall I felt encouraged by the peer support and enthused to try to implement some strategies to make life smoother and less chaotic.

Good morning Fireflyaddict

My name is Debbie Donachie and I am the Operational Nurse Manager for mental health & recovery services in East Renfrewshire HSCP.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about the Sparks ADHD Occupational Therapy group. I’m delighted to hear that you found the experience supportive, inclusive, and beneficial.

I’m pleased that you felt comfortable sharing experiences with others who understand the challenges of ADHD and the group provided a safe, understanding environment to do so.

Your kind words about Anna and Paul are much appreciated.

Thank you for your suggestions in relation to name tags and longer-term support. We're actively working on the support our services offer and your feedback is part of this.

Staffing is a key priority for all health & social care services however I am sure you will understand that resources are limited and we are always looking at ways of matching what we have to all the services we offer. Unfortunately, we are working within a very tight financial framework currently but please be reassured this is always a priority for us.

Thank you for taking the time to offer your feedback.
