I had a total abdominal hysterectomy in May this year due to multiple, large fibroids and was under the care of Dr Bain at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
From the initial consultation with Dr Bain at the One Stop clinic at Stobhill Hospital, the MRI at the Royal, pre-op assessment at Stobhill to the operation at the Royal, I was very well-looked after and can't praise the staff enough.
Everyone was really friendly and professional which was so important to me as I was quite nervous about the operation and how I'd feel afterwards. Dr Bain was amazing throughout, spent time explaining all the options, and put my mind at ease.
My time at the Royal was faultless. Again, lovely staff at Admissions and the anaesthetist and his team were thorough and really reassuring. Walking into theatre was nerve-wracking but the team were light-hearted and before I knew it I was waking in Recovery and I felt tired, a little woozy but fine.
I only spent 2 nights on Ward 56 but it was really comfortable and all the nursing staff were so kind and patient. They couldn't do enough for me and the other ladies in the room and I was grateful for help with the catheter and getting into the shower room. The meals were great (no complaints at all!) and I went home feeling confident about my recovery.
Thanks to Dr Bain, Carly for my numerous enquiries, and to all the fab staff across Stobhill and the Royal.
