"Exemplary service"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Cardiology

(as a service user),

I recently had an echocardiogram at NHS University Healthcare in Barnstable, and overall, my experience was excellent. From the moment I walked through the door, the staff made me feel comfortable. The receptionist was welcoming and put me at ease immediately. The entire team was helpful and informative, which made a big difference in what could have been an anxious situation.

When I met with the specialist, I was even more impressed. She was not only highly professional but also took the time to answer all my questions thoroughly. I felt like I was in good hands, and her care was exemplary.

While the service on the day was outstanding, I do have a concern regarding the waiting time. It took three months to get this appointment, and that's a long time when you're waiting for something as important as a heart scan. I know the delay isn’t the fault of the staff I met yesterday, who were all brilliant, but it’s an issue that needs addressing.

Despite the long wait, I would still give the team a 20 out of 10 for their exemplary service. These young staff members truly went above and beyond, and their dedication deserves to be recognised.

Thank you for taking the time to post feedback regarding the service that you received within the cardio-Respiratory department. It is always lovely to receive such positive reviews, the team work tirelessly to deliver a professional and caring environment for both patients and staff.

Your concerns over the 3 month wait times for an echocardiogram, is also a source of concern to myself and the management team. Over the last 2 years RDUH have been striving to bring the waiting list time down, with extra weekend clinics and investment in workforce, obviously, we have still work to do to get this wait down to the national target of less than 6 weeks but we are hopeful that this can be achieved.

Thank you again, for your post, it means alot to the staff, who I will share this post with.

Best wishes

Sally

Cardio-Respiratory Clinical lead.
