Being a nurse myself and only too aware of the negative and bad press that those working in the NHS can get at times, I felt it was important to review my recent experience.
I recently had a procedure carried out at Craigavon Day Surgery Unit. It was a fairly common procedure, however, still evoked a little anxiety in the lead up to it. I truly shouldn't have worried at all.
From the very moment I walked though the door of the Unit I was treated with the upmost of respect and dignity. Every member of staff that I came in contact with introduced themselves and engaged in conversation, which helped ease any nerves.
Every aspect of my procedure was explained to me several times, by different health professionals, whilst also being given the opportunity for any questions I had. My personal details and name band were checked several times, again this was very reassuring.
Dr Niblock carried out my procedure and I couldn't have been in better hands. She was professional, respectful, understanding and ensured that I was kept informed throughout.
Unfortunately, I can't remember the names of all the nurses, medical staff and support staff that I came in contact with, from the lovely nurse who completed my admission, the reassuring nurse who was at my side during the procedure to the pleasant young woman who made the tea and toast afterwards.
Each and every one was pleasant, professional, reassuring and informative. You are all doing a good job!
