I fell at home and injured both feet due to dizziness caused by Long Covid. I was ventilated with the virus in December 2020 and never fully recovered. I was admitted to Ward 12 Orthopaedic after a short stay in SAU and due to a flashback of being in ICU at QMC in 2020, this was my first hospital admission since then: I was distressed by this and the noise from others in the bay, however the two staff there when I was admitted were helpful and supportive and I was referred to see a doctor from the Liaison Psychiatric Team twice and she was so helpful.
I was on Ward 12 for 15 days and cannot fault any of the staff who were all friendly and excellent from porters, domestic staff, nursing and HCAs, physio and discharge team and they need to be really valued by the trust as a really good team, The food was the best I have had in a hospital ever and never expected salmon on the menu and the roast chicken delicious plus great puddings.
Just one issue which I feel really strongly about was the lack of knowledge by some of the doctors on the symptoms and issues living with Long Covid can cause as my fall was due to this and my recovery could also be hindered by this, I was medically discharged from Highbury Hospital in Nottingham after contracting Covid during the pandemic and we lost staff to the virus yet lack of knowledge was noticeable even now in what is a common condition, I also have PTSD from having delirium in ICU which made me mentally feel unwell also and questions asked every time by them very repetitive to the point were I really felt like saying please just read the notes.
Finally can the lovely staff who gave out the meals have a more colourful uniform as dark grey is a very 1900s kitchen maid look?
"Amazing staff"
