I arrived to Holywell to find other people also waiting. The doors opened and there was friendly nurses on hand to greet people and take them to their allotted place on the ward. They were all friendly. I was booked in and told my time by the surgeon who also came to see me. I was given a glass of water and told to sip. I was informed that my operation was to take place late morning, early afternoon. I was admitted to have my gall bladder removed.
Everything was explained to me and everyone on the ward were caring and attentive.
The time came and i was escorted to the operating theatre where i was checked in and waited a few minutes for the operation.
Everyone in the arrivals area of the operation theatres were welcoming and the anaesthetists explained every step to me in a calm manner. I then fell asleep.
I woke and it was explained that everything had gone to plan and i was returned to Holywell ward. Again, the staff were welcoming and monitored me throughout the next few hours. Unfortunately, my oxygen levels were too low and my pulse rate, too fast so i was admitted to Staveley ward at the last minute. The staff escorted me to Staveley ward where i stayed overnight. I was released in the following afternoon. The staff on Staveley ward were also attentive and available at all times.
I want to thank both Holywell and Staveley ward staff together with the staff in the operating theatre for making the whole experience as comfortable as possible. I am now recovering at home.
