I went in to have a full hysterectomy. On the morning of the operation I was welcomed and booked in by a lovely nurse (Orla) who put me at ease straight away because she was so friendly and gentle while being informative.(I was particularly grateful of her gentle ways 7days later when she was the nurse who removed my staples). Most of the staff I met from nurses to anaesthetists where friendly and eager to dispel any worries or concerns. Infact to be honest from arriving on the ward to leaving you would easily be fooled into thinking you had been in a private hospital.(only the food reminds you it's nhs). The hygiene of the ward was very comforting (the cleaners never stop and it shows). I couldn't possibly remember everyone's names (just a few really stand out Lois, Kelly, Eimear and Orla for going the extra mile).
Doctor Douglas is in a league of his own, such a friendly, polite, understanding gentleman can be hard to come by at his level of professionalism. I had been a bit nervous about such a big procedure but had I known then what I know now I wouldn't have been nervous at all.
