"They made me feel as if I were wasting their time"

I recently saw a consultant.  This was a follow-up appointment to one where I’d had to travel to Exeter because, having waited well over a year for the consultation in Barnstaple, a week or so before the appointment, I was informed the consultant was going on holiday, so it was wait another month or go to Exeter.

At the appointment with the consultant, they made me feel as if I were wasting their time being there. They came across as being entirely uninterested. I genuinely thought they must have had a bad day to be so brusque.  They did no physical exam, just asked me if I thought my symptoms were bad enough to warrant surgery, which they informed me wouldn’t solve the issues anyway.  

I’m not a person who’s easily intimidated, thank goodness, otherwise I might well have come away thinking I must be a waste of time. Instead, I came away feeling angry at such dismissive and belittling behaviour.
