"Kidney Stone Out of Hours"

About: Pinderfields General Hospital / Accident and emergency Pontefract General Infirmary / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I went to the 111 website when I was incapacitated by what I suspected to be a kidney stone, answered all the questions and was referred for a OOH GP appointment at Pontefract Hospital - the GP was polite and did some tests and told me to go to Pinderfields ED for treatment, so I did.

I arrived at Pinderfields, was checked in by a member of staff who didn’t appear to want to be there and entered a rather busy waiting room.

I was seen quickly by a triage nurse who gave me pain relief, took blood and observations and told to wait.

A couple of hours later the doctor (Dr Shyam) saw me - he was incredibly professional and ordered a CT scan and bladder ultrasound and referred me to Urology.

Can’t fault Pinderfields and Pontefract Hospitals - they don’t get the recognition when things go right, so I thought I should let you know. Thank you.
