I recently attended Stracathro Surgical Unit for a small operation.
I cannot fault the care that I received. From my initial outpatient appointment to my discharge after my procedure I have been so well cared for. I have been kept fully informed of expected waiting times, offered appointments that fitted around my family holiday.
I was warmly welcomed on the morning of my procedure. Introduced to all the staff that would be caring for me. I had my procedure fully discussed with me by my consultant, the registrar, the anaesthetist, the anaesthetic and theatre recovery nursing team and the ward staff. I had the opportunity to ask any questions I had.
I felt very reassured and safe in the care being provided to me.
I was walked to the theatre department and again warmly welcomed. It was reassuring to see the familiar faces that had visited me in the ward. And before I knew it I was returning to the ward with my operation complete. Again being well cared for.
I was again visited in the ward by the consultant and registrar. My operation discussed and my post recovery advice given.
The ward nursing staff also attending regularly to ensure I was fully recovered and reiterating my post op advice and providing written instructions, which was much appreciated as I did feel a little groggy.
My whole experience was just fantastic. It is always worrying having to have any procedure carried out. To be able to have this done close to home by a wonderfully caring and considerate team makes things so much easier and recovery much quicker!
A huge thankyou to everyone!
