"The level of person-centred care was exceptional"

(as a service user),

There aren’t enough words to say how grateful we are to the QEUH maternity services and the community midwife team for safely bringing our daughter into the world!

From the very first midwife appointment to being discharged from maternity services, the care we received was nothing short of exceptional.

I had an elective caesarean at the QEUH in August, from the outpatient obstetric appointments, to being admitted to the ward, the c section itself, recovery, ward level care post op, absolutely every part of my care was incredible. The midwives in theatre and on the ward are truly angels sent from heaven. I was a very anxious first time mum and I was made to feel like me, and my new baby, were the only people in that whole hospital who were there to be cared for. The level of person-centred care was exceptional.

Nothing was too much to ask, but what the midwives and all the staff, on the ward and in theatre gave me I could never have asked for. They treated me with such dignity and respect but most importantly with kindness. They made me feel safe and cared for, I knew my baby was in the safest hands and so was I.

The entire QEUH obstetric and maternity service is a credit to the NHS, you should all be incredibly proud of what you are doing. You are not just wonderful at your job but you are all wonderful human beings. So thank you, not from a patient to you as doctors, midwives, HCSWs but from one human being to another, thank you.
