My brother was taken to Whiston Hospital by his son, who feared he may be having a stroke at approximately 12.45am. I got a phone call at approximately 2.10pm saying he had been taken to A&E had already had a scan and was waiting to see a doctor.
I left for the hospital - quite a distance away - and on my arrival at 3.15pm he was sat in chair with small wheels, slumped to one side and still waiting to see a doctor. The day dragged on, he was uncomfortable, tired, upset and still not seen a doctor.
He wanted to go the toilet so both his sons took him and he had soiled his underwear trying not to go, as he was unable to stand unaided.
He finally seen a doctor at approximately 11.15 pm who confirmed he had had a stroke and was to be taken to a ward. He was in hospital till for ten days and was sent home even though he had chronic diarrhoea and was losing weight every day.
He is still getting aftercare which has been brilliant, but I would like someone to look into how he was treated in A&E and on the ward but don’t know where to start.
