My 6-week old son was referred to children’s A&E with a high temp by our local GP. He was assessed quickly by the A&E triage service and before long moved to the clinical decisions unit for further tests and assessment. Eventually, he was tested through a lumbar puncture and blood cultures taken. He was later moved to ward 2C for continued observations whilst we waited on test results. My wife and I were very worried given our son is so young and required hospitalisation but the staff in the CDU and ward 2C were great with him considering his age. In the CDU the doctor explained what the tests were needed for a he was well look after. In the longer stint in ward 2C all of the staff were great with both our son and my wife and I. They helped to reassure us during a stressful time and the nurses that did his obs and administered his medicine were great with him. The doctors and consultant that explained test results to my wife and I came across very professional and explained in a way we could understand what they were doing and what would be needed for our sons continued care so we just wanted to add this story to thank everyone for their efforts and professionalism.
