During my stay in Emergency Surgical Ambulatory Clinic (ESAC) recently I was very well looked after by RN Jo and HCA on shift (cannot recall the name).
At the time I had my baby and my husband needed to leave me alone with her as he went to get our 3 year old from pre school. Even being busy she was caring and understanding. Took her time to explain things.
My baby was starting to become grumpy and tired and I couldn’t pick her up all the time due to abdominal pain (later was diagnosed with acute appendicitis). Nurse Jo looked after my daughter, picked her up and played with her.
After ESAC was moved to Wynard ward and nurse Ryan was very professional and caring. The following day I must mention HCA Nellie. She was very proactive, compassionate, caring. Escalating and updating her concerns with the patient and relatives. All you need when you are feeling unwell after a surgery.
Special mention to the anaesthetic team that made me feel comfortable, safe and heard as well as the surgical team that took over my case.
I was very impressed when I could phone my husband whilst in recovery so he could settle his mind to peace.
Overall my experience at Royal Devon & Exeter was very positive and encountered very professional, caring and knowledgeable staff.
"Caring, compassionate, understanding"
