"Lack of care"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Accidents & Emergency

(as the patient),

Information on my documentation mostly incorrect.

Triage nurse didn't seem to care. Told them I was in the worst pain I had ever felt. Didn't even offer pain relief. Recorded it as moderate pain. One nurse tried to use a dirty, single patient use sats probe when doing my obs. (It had been laying on the floor which is also far from clean).

Offered me paracetamol for pain 3 hours after asking, even though I had told them I had already taken the maximum dose in 24 hours.

Had I not been aware of 24 hour maximum dosages, I would've taken what I was given. Nurse just recorded this at declined, took my blood pressure and didn't offer anything else.

I feel that the amount of nurses and doctors who walked past me when I was very obviously in a lot of pain was disgraceful for people in a caring profession.

Dear venuszx74

as a department we take feedback such as this extremely seriously and would like to investigate this further, as there is obvious learning for the staff on duty when you presented to the department.

Can I ask you to contact the Trust complaints department at your earliest convenience with your details and we will respond formally as the treatment you have described does not align with our Trust values

thank you
