I was admitted to ward 7 after getting a nasty infection in a heal blister and was an in patient for 4 nights. From my journey through A and E and ward 7 and now still getting treatment from the nurse at my medical practice, Joanne and Cheryl the tissue viability nurse have all been amazing in the care and treatment delivered to help me on my road to recovery.
I myself work within NHS borders and I never thought I would be on the receiving end of treatment. It has made me reflect on my own practice and understand the way a patient feels and responds to treatment when it is delivered in a professional and caring manner. It certainly is a eye opener when the shoe is on the other foot (pardon the pun) on the way you feel when receiving the care and treatment and how scary a situation can be when you are unsure what is going on and why you are feeling so unwell. Over all departments I was in I felt I was treated with dignity and value was given to my care and treatment.
The challenges each department and staff face day to day yet they still go above and beyond to reassure us and help us in our recovery, they are all so valuable to the team.
Thank you A and E staff for the fast, professional, prompt service and reassurance. Thank you ward 7 for everything you have done to help me in my recovery and the excellent care your team has delivered, from nursing duties to the domestics and the endless cups of coffee and keeping our wards clean. You should all be proud of your team. Thank you to Cheryl the tissue viability nurse and Joanne the practice nurse at Melrose surgery for their continuing care to get me better and back on my feet. Also thanks to my own team for the care and support in helping me in recovery and returning to work. I'm certainly proud to be working for the NHS and will use my experience in reflecting on the care and compassion I show to patients in my care and hope I can make them feel as comfortable on their recovery journey as I felt. Thank You Thank you Thank You.
