"Care given to my father-in-law"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Intensive Care Unit

(as a relative),

My father-in-law was unwell and ended up in the critical care department Ayr hospital. Sadly he passed away but the care he’d received was nothing short of brilliant.

They tried everything they possibly could to save his life but when the time came and he sadly passed the staff were empathetic and offered so much support. The staff are a credit to the NHS and fulfilled all the values of the NHS Ayrshire and Arran, caring, safe and respectful.

Both of us have worked in the health service for years and understand how hard it can be to provide a high standard of care under the pressures they face. It did not hinder his care one bit and the staff involved should be proud of all the hard work and effort they put in on a daily basis.

We won’t forget the kindness you showed to us in this sad time. It has meant the world to us that he had the best possible care and did not suffer.

Dear Steven582

Firstly, please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your father in law. It is an extremely difficult time when we lose a loved one however I am heartened to hear that this difficult time was made somewhat easier by the outstanding care and support your father in law and yourselves received in his final days.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients and it will be my pleasure to share your kind comments with the wider Team in the Unit. I know they will be delighted to receive this feedback and it will be really encouraging for them to know that you felt so well supported by them.

Please accept my best wishes and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience, particularly at such a sad and difficult time.

Kind Regards

Pamela
