A patient was talking to the receptionist staff and once they left, the receptionist staff were heard talking about said patient and their very rare condition. As a fellow healthcare professional who was waiting for their appointment at the far end of the room, I find this to be completely inappropriate and unprofessional especially in front of patients who are waiting. The conversation was easily overheard despite lowering voices as I could hear everything at the end of the room. I feel this is completely unacceptable and poor practice of patient confidentiality. I also feel the dress code for receptionists is unprofessional. Please can staff refrain from discussing patients in the open especially when not involved in their care.
