I attended a follow up appointment with a Dietician @ Shantallow Health Centre last week. The dietician was called Aisling.
My appointment with Aisling was a very productive one as Aisling listened to my problems regarding my swallowing, which I continue to have difficulty with following on from my cancer surgery which resulted in my having to have my oesophagus/food pipe removed.
I have experienced ongoing problems with my swallowing and I was very concerned that I was not getting the best possible help and support from the hospital/oncologist/cancer nurses and when Aisling listened to my health related problems, she assured me that she would follow this up with the health professionals who had been looking after me in the past.
Thankfully, I have had a phone call from the Belfast City Hospital, where I underwent my surgery for the removal of my oesophagus, I had a 5cm cancerous tumour at the base of my oesophagus where it joined the stomach, and I am to get a follow up phone appointment in the next couple of weeks with my consultant and I will be able to explain to him, directly, how I am struggling to eat and swallow!
I would like to say a big thank you 🙏🏻 to Aisling for her help, support and arrangement with the health professionals with whom I have been engaging with, as I will hopefully get the best possible treatment for my swallowing problems.
Thank you Aisling & please 🙏🏻 continue to provide an excellent service for your service users!
Take care and stay safe
