"Patient taxi for Renal"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Renal unit

Over the last few weeks the service provided by the contracted taxi company has been abysmal. Late in picking up for dialysis, late in picking up for journey home, sometimes as much as an hour. Given that it is the same people who are getting picked up on the same days I find it hard no one can organise pick ups on a timely basis. It’s a long enough day without having to add another 2 hours on to it. Considering the price the NHS pay to the taxi company, I think it’s about time they looked into getting value for money and started chasing them up about their service.

Again today, finished dialysis and had to wait almost two hours to get picked up from Forth Valley Renal dept.

Dialysis is tiring enough without having to wait another hour+ on a taxi. Whoever negotiated the contract with the taxis in Falkirk is needing to investigate the quality of service the company is providing.

My apologies that we have not responded to your story and the difficulties you are experiencing with being taken home from the Renal Unit following your dialysis. I understand how frustrating this must be for you after a long day in the hospital and I would be interested to know if you are still experiencing such difficulties.
