I was up with my elderly mother in the same day urgent care unit last week.
The staff were all very helpful but unfortunately were unable to help with the situation. As we sat in the waiting area, we were disgusted by the overwhelming stench of smoke AND cannabis. The staff were working and breathing this all day and patients and visitors had to walk past and be overwhelmed by the smell whilst waiting in the waiting area.
I appreciate the NHS has its issues, but inhaling fumes from drugs while in hospital seems quite unbelievable. The staff have tried to deal with it but say that authorities don’t respond to calls and management have not done anything about it either.
The smokers make the entrance impassable. It is dirty, cigarette butts lying about and intimidating. Not at all appropriate. I feel this needs dealt with as a matter of urgency.
