"Emergency department"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I went to a&e with an urgent referral from an out of hours doctor for abdominal pain, I was seen by triage within the hour where they took my obs and a blood test.

I was then sat waiting for several hours and still hadn't seen anyone, I approached a doctor and asked him to help me, he told me whilst stood in the hallway that my blood results had come back clear with no infection present and said I could go home, with no consultation, no physical exam, and not looking further into what was wrong with me if it wasn't an infection.

So I sat for several hours to not been seen by anyone and no answers or diagnosis for what was an urgent referral.

Dear Funnykd38,

I would like to apologise for your poor experience and patient journey through the Emergency Department.

In order for us to look into this matter in further detail please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) 01246 512640 or email them on crhft.acs@nhs.net, we will then be able to review your case and review what happened on the day in question.

Kind regards
