"Getting my Mum's homecare needs met"

About: Adult Health and Social Care Localities / Rehab Services Eastwood Localities Intensive Services / Care at Home

(as a relative),

After many months of trying to get help for my mum, she has become housebound.  In this time her homecare needs have inevitably increased, in particular over the last few weeks. Getting these needs met has been a mighty struggle for her family. With huge pressures on the Homecare team - because of lack of capacity - she is finally getting the carers she needs.

This has happened in no small part because of the wonderful Frailty Practitioner, Isla. In the two weeks between her first assessment and a follow-up visit a fortnight later, Isla saw my mum's steep deterioration. She was able to argue strongly that my mum's needs were at crisis point and finally the care package is in place.

Thank you Isla!

Dear LLSam,

My name is Lynne Siddiqui and I am the Community Rehabilitation Service Manager and Lead Allied Health Professional in East Renfrewshire HSCP.

I am sorry to read that your mum's health and care needs have deteriorated over recent times and the challenges you have had as a family to support this. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback regarding the input received from our Frailty Practitioner, Isla. I am pleased to read that Isla has helped to ensure the formal supports required are now in place and hope that these are helping you all.

Furthermore, I hope her wider assessment has helped identify any additional supports required by your mum and yourselves as carers, and you have been provided with any necessary advice, signposting and input.

I will share your feedback with Isla and thank you again for letting us know about your experience of our service.

Best wishes,

Lynne
