Yeah, just spent three weeks in Otter Ward recovering from a laryngectomy, but it wasn't the procedure that left me speechless, it was the people. Everyone from the nurses, the surgeons, the cleaners and caterers. Every single person I came into contact with was just amazing. That cannot be statistically right, right? Trust me, I am not a 'people person', but these people are something else. Even when I sat in bed and had no choice but to have to watch or listen when they dealt with non compliant patients, it was a level of cool, caring professionalism that cannot be normal. These folks are incredible.
Am I glad to be home safe and sound? Of course. However, I really miss seeing a bunch of mates I have never even spoken too. They were there when I couldn't get in contact with my friends and family for the first week of my stay, but will live forever in my heart. Soppy? Yeah. Worth it.
Thanks you so, so much for making this part of my journey as smooth as it possibly could be. Just a massive, mass
