"Postnatal ward and delivery suits "

About: Good Hope Hospital

It was such a distressing environment in postnatal ward. I had c section last month I gave birth to a baby girl thn I was shifted in postnatal ward where u have to share room with 2 to 3 other ladies with very uncomfrtable pillow and a thin blanket or just a sheet and a bell to call help help which means no help. I was treated like I gave normal birth they ignored the pain of stitches midwives were so so rude. I asked one to plz give me water and she replied that water dispenser is not so far u can have it and I was in terrible pain in y back and I had to take medicines, than I was not planning to give any formula I was always the fan of breast feeding but at that time I was not producing milk so one time they gave me prepared bottle but second time they said oh its for emergncy when ur husbnd come tell him to bring bottles for ur baby and my husbnd was visiting at evening so thats mean my baby has to stay hungry from afternoon to evening .. thn I asked one Midwife to help me to change diaper and she said u have to do it your own .. they hardly help to breastfeed I got no breastfeed help. I am still struggling to breastfeed as my baby has tongue tie and she is tiny so they offer me nothing literally nothing they left me on my own just gave me some suggestions to buy pump and strt pumping and I felt like if I stayed one more day I will be going in depression so I asked thm second day to discharge me and they did in evening .. I still remeber the bad rude faces of everyone there such a horrible birthing experience they gave me plus there was no delivery suite available in start and they shifted me in random suite which was not fully prepared to give birth and food was also just to fill ur stomch .. soooo bad u treat a women like this who just gave birth who just went through alot of pain and trauma.. instead of making my birthing exprience memorable they made it horrible. They were just shifting me from ward to ward room to room I dont want to gibe birth anymore

Dear Kainat

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about Good Hope Hospital Birmingham– apologies for the slightly delayed response. We are really sorry to hear that you had such a distressing experience in the delivery suite and postnatal wards, in particular a difficult birthing experience, that you felt that you were just shifted from one area to another, the lack of support post c-section, rude midwives and the lack of help to breastfeed.

If you think it’s helpful we are very keen to listen to your concerns in more detail and to try to help if there are any outstanding issues - or things we can learn from. If you are happy to do this please make contact with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to provide your details. They can be contacted by phone 0121 424 0808, by email PALS@uhb.nhs.uk, or by contact form at https://www.uhb.nhs.uk/forms/contact-complaint-concern

Best wishes
