I was admitted twice within a week in July and had excellent care from all staff in a&e and on ward 21b despite wait times for a bed. Whilst in hospital I had an urgent mri and biopsy. I was told two weeks for both results and they had gone through as urgent . Mri was 8 wks and biopsy 13 wks I had to go through my GP to get results as I was so worried . Still no letter from Gynae with biopsy result. Had app with gynae 7th Aug to be told Surgery will go ahead as urgent but not on the cancer pathway but it would be 2/3 weeks once biopsy results were back. Next App 30th Aug still no results back but put on the urgent list for surgery and told 2/3 months and that it didn’t matter what the biopsy results were as everything was being removed anyway. Good news though that it’s not cancer however the words used by both gynae doctors were let’s get it out before it can turn sinister. I was Sent away with no pain management atall and put on the list.
Been suffering chronic pain since June and can barely get through a day. Called admissions for rough surgery date last wk to be told a year!!! When I asked if consultants are aware of wait times I was told yes but they are ignoring it!!!
No one was going to contact me and inform me of this so called drastic change in just five weeks of the wait times since going on the list in Aug. How can this be an urgent list???!!! By all accounts there are not enough theatre slots and the hospital are not meeting targets.
I could’ve gone back to a&e several times the last few weeks but it’s pointless as you are just sedated with morphine and sent home then pinged back to gynae.
I’ve had to make several calls to the gynae secretary who has been amazing in trying to help. She has mailed my gynae doctor that is doing the surgery several times to no avail! In total I’ve seen 6 gynae doctors since June who have all been very understanding and given what they think is wrong. Telling patients incorrect wait times is in excusable. The impact this has had on my quality of life the last five months has been unbearable to now be told I have to stay like this for another year. Every service is manned by an answer phone and it takes weeks for a callback accept the gynae secretary and this includes PALs who I have tried to contact . No one gets back to use as this service is also struggling!!!
I have another appointment on the 17th Oct to try and get some pain relief and an answer as to why I was told 2/3 months??
