"Benefits of Infant Massage"

About: Children’s Services / Health Visiting

(as a service user),

I was referred to Karyn for baby massage when my 3 month old was unsettled due to colic. It was such an amazing experience and he has been thriving since!

I cannot express how grateful I am to have learned baby massage & the positive benefits it has had on my son such as improving his engagement & interaction, settling his colic and helping him relax but also how it has given us quality time in the evening as part of his bed time routine & strengthened our bond!

He gets excited & looks forward to his baby massage in the evenings!! Karyn has a wealth of knowledge and was able to show me various massage techniques for his colic but also for relaxation! He has exomphalos major but she was able to help me adapt massage techniques to maintain his comfort and still benefit for baby massage.

Dear Catriona5,

Thank you for taking the time to give feedback about the support you received from Karyn. I am delighted that you really enjoyed the infant massage sessions with her and that learning these skills has not only settled his colic but improved his interaction and helped him to relax. Touch is so important for babies, gives them comfort and reduces stress levels but it also important for parents, helping you bond and feel relaxed and calm together.

It was great that Karyn was able to show you how to adapt the techniques for his exomphalos major.

Karyn and all the staff within the HV team are dedicated to sharing their knowledge and expertise with families and it is so encouraging to have such lovely positive feedback, thank you again for taking the time to do so. This feedback has been shared with them.

Hopefully you can continue to use the massage techniques as your little one grows and I wish your family well.

Kind regards,

Joyce McKittrick

Lead Nurse Public Health
