"Guidance, support and encouragement"

About: Adult Community Services / Domicilliary Care Service Dungannon / Occupational Therapy services Loane House / Ward 1

(as a relative),

My Mother was transferred from Causeway Hospital to Ward 1 Loane House  for rehabilitation as she had fractured her pelvis. I wish to thank Irene, the Discharge Co-ordinator for her support and guidance throughout the transfer and for respecting the needs of my Mother.

My Mother was on Ward 1 and received excellent care from the Multidisciplinary Team throughout the four plus weeks that she was a patient. The Physio and OT had assessed my Mother shortly after transfer to ward 1 and had her up walking with aid of two staff and a zimmer frame. My Mother gradually gained confidence mobilising again with the high standard of professional care and encouragement she received throughout her period on ward 1. Everyone works well as a team from the Domestic support, Nursing support workers to the Nursing staff, Physio and OT.  Rowena, Seanin and Kathryn were excellent in assessing and encouraging my Mother every day to walk again.

My Mother and Father as well as myself got great support and advice from Patrick the Deputy Ward Sister. Fiona was excellent in her role as Social Worker. Making sure that the needs of my Mother were addressed and seen to for discharge from Loane House to her own home.

I have nothing but praise for Loane House as it is outstanding as a Rehabilitation Unit.

I also wish to praise the Domiciliary Care Trust and Paddy the Supervisor who ensures that my Mother has Carers four times a day since her discharge from Loane House

The Carers are all excellent and my Mother and Father have built up a rapport with them.

I also would like to thank Eimear and Vicky the Community Physio and OT Team who attended my Mother at home. They gave my Mother guidance, support and encouragement to gradually increase her mobility with a view to keeping her safe.

It is reassuring having such a team attending to my Mother on a daily basis and I have confidence in the care they provide.

Thanks very much for your thoughtful feedback on the care provided by staff in both Loane House and the community rehab team. It is lovely for the team to get to hear the views of patients and their families on the services that they provide, and I am so glad to hear that your experience has been so positive. I will share you kind words with the team. Very best wishes, Diane
