My journey started with a visit to the Mental Health Practitioner (MHP) at my GP's practice - I met him as I was struggling with anxiety, depression and mainly sleep deprivation - terrible nightmares and sleep walking - I think due to many hard life events, especially the most recent and hardest - my mum's passing.
During the appointment, the MHP called the GM Bereavement service and this was my first call with a therapist who I spoke to at length and this was the first of several phone calls with them.
My therapist was a good listener! During the conversations, they thought maybe I wasn't ready to tackle bereavement therapy just yet, but the calls continued, so too did their recommendations of journaling and also they gave me details of The Women's Centre in Stockport, who have also been brilliant! I have been on an online mindfulness course and they are looking after me while I am on waiting lists for other services.
As they are now taking care of me, my therapist had their last call with me recently - they really have helped me on the path to getting better and finding some peace and sleep.
