"Unhappy with paediatric care"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter's dad had to take her in to see one of the Paediatric Consultants at NNUH. As he does not live with us, he does not see everything. We went previously about her kidneys as nothing has been done about it at all. It seems they tell us one story and then go back on it.

This time the consultant was more interested in my daughter's asthma. They said they thought her chest sounded fine and she can't have asthma. They asked her dad how she is and he stated he did not know as he's not always around. The consultant did not think she needed her asthma medication then. That was decided within 20 minutes with someone that does not live with her. I don't understand how they even reached that conclusion. I am so angry as my daughter needs her medication as she gets wheezy and needs it at school also.

In my opinion the consultant is mistaken and does not listen and I am fed up with it. I want to make all her care the responsibility of my GP but he said with all that my daughter has been though she needs a children's doctor. He was asked if he was going to do something about her problems then but gave no answer. I have to cope with her problems and I am ill myself. No one seems to want to know. I will not let my daughter come off the medications she needs. She can have mine if it comes to it.
