My daughter has a severe learning disability (autism, bipolar) and attends Antrim Adult Centre 5 days a week.
Firstly I want them to know we would be lost without them. She had been attending the centre since she was 19 and she is 41 on her next birthday. She needs structure to her day the centre provides this, it gives her a routine, this is important for her. Myself and my wife are both retired, with the best will in the world we would not be able to provide the structure for her that the centre does.
She has got to know the staff over the years, some have been and gone, some are still here. The staff are excellent, we have got to know them they, do a great job.
During covid the centre was closed this has an impact on my daughter she got more agitated being in the house all week when she was used to going to the centre. The centre staff came a couple of times a week and took her out on the bus for a run, this was great for her to get her out of the house and great for us too.
When she comes home from the centre she talks about her day, what staff and her friends were wearing, she likes her fashion. She enjoys the shopping trips, swimming and going a wee drive to the Lough Shore.
I know I can speak to any of the staff or pick up the phone and have a chat if I'm worried about something, they are more than willing to help.
I just want to say Big Thank you to all the staff you are terrific.
"Big Thank you to all the staff you are terrific."
