A big thank you to all the hardworking staff in ward 7 and 8 Ninewells when I was unexpectedly admitted. All the staff were kind, considerate and ensured I was comfortable at all times. It was so reassuring for myself but also lovely to hear the general ward chat with other patients to put them at ease, personalise care and give the human touch. Everybody from the consultant through to the nurses to the health care workers to cleaners were lovely. Lots of great cups of tea which makes a surprising difference when you feel rotten.
I was very worried about having a general anaesthetic but I was given the chance to discuss this with the anaeasthetist despite this being an emergency surgery. I never felt rushed or unable to ask questions. Obviously I am unable to comment on the surgeons technique but I woke up feeling a lot better and have had no issues since. The recovery staff ensured I was up to date as soon as I can round from the anaesthetic.
The lovely student nurse Bea who did the initial assessment deserves an extra special thank you along with the anaesthetic assistant (sorry can’t remember her name) who both took their time to put me at ease and acknowledge areas of concern.
I am so grateful for this how effective this unexpected experience was at a time when I was feeling unwell and uncertain.
Thanks
"Faultless care"
