Unfortunately my experience with this service classically describes much that is wrong with the nhs. i was booked in quickly and seen very promptly by the triage nurse, that was all good. here is how it goes wrong. i went there following a foot injury which i received 6 weeks ago. suspected had damaged /broke my second toe, lots of pain and bruising, to be expected. as a retired nurse so understood that there is not much you can do about this. i have a fixed big toe and continued to experience a lot of pain on the ball of my foot under this toe, making walking painful. after this length of time suspected there may be something else wrong. apologetic triage nurse told me that in her opinion it needed a xray but as my injury was over 2 weeks old I would have to go to my gp to request this, I would get the same response from a&e this an example of how the nhs wastes money and delivers a poor service. Just think of the number of people involved now and in the future, let alone the time it will take to get an answer to this. please make services joined up and stop wasting time and money pushing patients round the services.
