"ECT Team Queen Margaret Hospital Dunfermline"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Adult mental health

(as a service user),

I have just finished a course of 12 treatments of Electroconvulsive Therapy with the team at Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline and they could not have been better. The whole team were fantastic. The healthcare assistants, Kim and Lorraine, who greeted me at every  session were so welcoming and reassuring. All of the nurses in the ECT suite were lovely, especially Cat who always made me laugh, no matter how bad I was feeling. The anaesthetists and psychiatrists were also all great and the treatment has made such an amazing difference. I know the NHS mental health services often get a bad rap but the whole team here deserve endless praise for their patience, reassurance and warmth.

Dear Gee1998

My name is Siobhan McIlroy and I am the Head of Patient Experience. I am sorry for the delay in you receiving a response.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your course of Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) at the Queen Margaret Hospital. It’s wonderful to hear about the positive impact the treatment has had on your wellbeing and the exceptional care you received from the team.

Your kind words about Kim and Lorraine, who greeted you warmly at each session, highlight their dedication to creating a reassuring environment. It's heartening to hear how Cat’s ability to bring humor and positivity lifted your spirits during challenging moments. Recognising the anaesthetists and psychiatrists for their professionalism and the overall positive impact they had on your care speaks volumes about the team's collaboration and commitment.

Acknowledging the NHS mental health team for their patience, reassurance, and warmth is deeply appreciated, especially when they often face challenges and criticisms. Your feedback not only uplifts the staff but also provides encouragement to others seeking mental health care.

Your feedback will be shared with the team. Thank you once again for sharing your journey, and we wish you continued health and wellbeing, best wishes and take care, Siobhan
