"Blood hub @ Seafield Hospital Buckie"

About: Seafield Hospital / Community Hub Seafield Hospital / Out Patient Clinics

(as a service user),

Having moved to Moray in early 2024 and recently diagnosed with Leukaemia, regular hospital visits and blood samples have been paramount to my care and treatment.

I attend Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s haematology department to meet with my consultant on a monthly basis for reviews of my treatment progress.

As regular blood work is a key aspect of my care to monitor the genetic profile of my cancer, and must be done in advance of my appointments, I cannot overstate how important the Bloodhub service at Seafield hospital in Buckie has been to my care.

I have the good fortune to meet with Sandra at Seafield hospital on a monthly basis. She always greats me with a big smile and a warmth that’s made something unpleasant into an experience I look forward to. It’s more a kin to having coffee with a friend, catching up and chatting about the nuance of life. From the first appointment, she’s made me feel at ease while efficiently collecting my blood samples. She brings a human element to my care with empathy and compassion that is above and beyond her duties, something I value highly when I’m feeling low. I always leave with a big smile on my face and looking forward to the next appointment.

I am so grateful for folk like Sandra, who provide an invaluable service within the community to myself and many others.

ARI is an almost 3 hour round trip from my home, so the Bloodhub allows minimal disruption to me while reducing environmental impact and providing an invaluable service to our community.

Dear BeenieInBetweenie,

Thank you for sharing this with us. I’m sorry to hear about your leukaemia but it’s good to know you are being well taken care of by both the team in Aberdeen and Sandra at Seafield.

Your description of the hub at Seafield, is exactly what we hoped the experiences of the people using them would be, from bringing services closer to home to the kind touches of person centred care. As Lead Nurse for Moray it makes me so proud to know the time and effort our staff are putting in is making a difference. I will share this feedback with Sandra directly and I know it will bring a smile to her face – as she has done to you.

I wish you all the best with your treatment.

Take care,

Corrine
