"Painful uterine biopsy "

About: Worthing Hospital

I went for a gynaecologist app in aug re pain I have been having in my groin and abdomen.

I was asked to consent to a biopsy there and then or that weeks waiting.

The dr said it would be mostly painless with a slight cramping.

As a mother of 5 children I have never experienced something so painful as the shock of a piece of my insides which are already sore and swollen being cut out. I had to get him to stop so I could catch my breath through my tears. I thought I was going to throw up.

The dr then told me the pain would only stop once I slowed him to remove the tool and the sample.

I couldn’t stop crying and shaking for the whole day. I felt so shocked and traumatised.

Before I could even open my eyes and with the nurse fanning my face to cool me off the dr had left the room and I didn’t see him again. I felt like the lack of information I was given with regards to how painful this procedure can possibly be for some women is disgusting. I would still have gone through with the biopsy as it is an important step in diagnosing cancer. However I would have felt better not having been told it was basically painless.

If I ever have to have another biopsy it will not be without pain relief and I will advice every woman I know to do the same.
