I was referred to the Ambulatory Care Unit at Ninewells Hospital with a severe sudden onset headache that persisted and really high blood pressure.
It was a very scary experience as a retired nurse I knew what the potential outcomes could be. I ended up being admitted overnight to the short stay ward for observation and some further investigations. Thankfully all clear and I am safely home with my family.
My experience was first class, all staff that I came into contact with were kind compassionate and professional individuals. The unit was very busy but we were kept well informed of progress with some welcome humorous interjections. The balance of checking in with me and letting me rest was just great and all staff took time to check in with a friendly how are you doing can I get you anything?
The ward feels warm and welcoming which certainly helped me to relax. I had a lumbar puncture which I can honestly say I hardly felt at all. The medical team were fantastic and explained everything throughout. CT staff, porters, domestic, nursing staff and students all making a scary experience more bearable.
What a team, under the leadership of Linda who was visible and accessible around the ward. Thank you to everyone involved and well done ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
