"I can't thank my surgeon enough"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Day Surgery University Hospital Hairmyres / Theatres, Recovery & Anaesthetics

(as the patient),

Last December I went in for Gall Bladder Removal Surgery. I can't thank my surgeon Mr Khan enough. He was truly amazing.

I had suffered for months with increasing pain and visits to Hairmyres Hospital to get pain relief and was admitted too. Mr Khan stepped in and agreed to do my surgery even though I am obese and have a high BMI (hey I'm working on it!) Mr Khan used a camera called a spyglass on me as I also had to have Bile Duct Explenation (hope I spelled that correctly) along with the gall bladder removal.

I know this is a very expensive piece of equipment but, due to his decision to use this equipment not to mention his expertise it avoided have to use E.R.C.P. Which could have greatly increased my chances of complications.

I feel safe in the knowledge that using this equipment aided me in my speedy and complication free recovery.

Thanks to this man and his team I was finally able to live pain free!

Now on to the nurses/csw's and support staff including domestics on the ward after my surgery. All of the staff! They were just truly wonderful. They were supportive, kind and professional. They put me at ease the minute I walked in the door and were so kind and supportive after my surgery.

I feel so so lucky and blessed to have had the privilege of not only being looked after by such caring people but being operated on by such an accomplished man.

Dear Greenuniform16,

Thank you for sharing these lovely comments on the care you received from Mr Khan and the various teams. I'm delighted to hear that you are now pain free following your surgery, being in pain for the months prior to this would certainly have had an impact on you. The staff throughout the teams always aim to provide you with support and kindness and ensure that your experience is a positive one.

I will pass on your feedback to Mr Khan and all who cared for you throughout your stay.

Best wishes with your recovery

Pauline
