"Such a pleasant experience"

About: NHS Tayside / East Scotland Breast Screening Centre

(as a service user),

I had the pleasure of attending my first routine visit to Breast Screening Centre at Ninewells Hospital. 

Interaction with receptionist was welcoming as my details were checked, then following the footprints to the waiting room. I was very quickly approached by Nicky who said they were running a bit behind time and apologised for this.

I don’t think I even waited 5 minutes before Nicky was back to take me through. Nicky was so kind and informative, explained the procedure and what she was planning to do. Asked if I had any questions before we started.

The whole process was quick and efficient, Nicky chatted away while she so gently and kindly got me into position, explaining everything she was doing and why. 

Nicky is an absolute credit to the Breast Screening Centre, so efficient and informative and I left after 10 minutes knowing exactly how the results would be sent to me and how to get in touch if I had any further questions. 

Such a pleasant experience (if a mammogram can be described like that!) but Nicky’s pleasant and caring manner was truly wonderful. 

Thanks Nicky, my first experience was a positive one and I do hope Nicky receives the positive praise that I’m sure she must receive on a regular basis.

Hi Pumpkinspicelatte,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write about your experience at breast screening. It means a lot to our staff to know that not only have they carried out the diagnostic tests, but they have helped improve the whole patient experience through what can be a daunting and worrying visit. The staff work exceptionally hard to put patients at ease and make sure each patient knows what to expect throughout the process. Nicky is one of our most experienced staff and I will be very pleased to pass on your thanks to her.
