We had the best experience! I wanted to go in to labor naturally, and give birth without medication, and be out after 24 hours max. Instead I needed to be induced since I was over 41 weeks, it was 53 hours from the start of the induction to his birth.
We had every method of induction needed to get him out (folly ballon, breaking water, pitocin, and then ventouse during the birth), and I used every method of pain relief (epidurals are magic!)
If I could have described my worst case scenario beforehand, the only thing that would have been worse would be having a c-section. Despite all of this, I look back at my birth experience as the most positive experience I could have had, and it’s all down to every single midwife we had helping us through the process.
We started in triage due to some bleeding, were transferred to the antenatal ward, then labor ward for the birth, and finally to the birthing center for recovery. At every point of the way, everyone was so attentive, kind, and understanding!
I can’t remember everyone’s names, but we definitely were helped out by Sophie, Ewan (who delivered our baby, thank you!), Adelle, and Christine (charge midwife). After the birth I needed help getting baby latched for the first 8 hours, I can’t thank everyone enough for coming in to help me every time!
I could go on and on with my praise for everyone, thank you so much!
"We had the best experience!"
