"Blood test for chemotherapy treatment"

About: Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre / Ward B6 Day Case Unit

(as a service user),

I am currently receiving chemotherapy and am struggling to have blood tests carried out locally so am now having to travel to the Beatson Glasgow every time I require a blood test.

I was advised that my doctor surgery would take the bloods but they were not interested and recommended the phlebotomy Hub in Barrhead who again were not willing to assist. A call to the central phlebotomy phone line offered me the Queen Elizabeth Hospital or Yorkhill Hospital, which is not any more helpful than going to the Beatson.

I find it unbelievable that it is so difficult to have blood tests done easily especially when I am already struggling with the treatment. It feels like an unnecessary stress at an already stressful time.
