"Our daughter"

About: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) / Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services - Crisis Team Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) / Specialist CAMHS

(as a parent/guardian),

Our daughter’s mental health started to decline quite rapidly. We didn’t realise for a while as she had hid it so well. It started with depriving herself of food and she lost so much weight but hid it very well wearing baggy cloths.

Our daughter then started to self ha*m using any item that she could to cut herself. She also started hearing voices and seeing angels who were encouraging her to self ha*m.

We contacted the crisis team at CAHMS and were shocked by the poor service we received.

Our daughter confided in a teacher at school who put in a safeguarding and we were put through to the community team at Head2head. As soon as we met Phil we felt safe. He supported not only our daughter but our family.

We had some very difficult conversations and it was hard to hear that I did not handle some situations very well, but we were given the necessary skills to help our daughter during her crisis.

Phil introduced our daughter to the extended team and she now sees Sarah for CBT and Jane for additional help now Phil has moved on.

Hi Terrifiedmum

Thanks for your post regarding you daughter, as all feedback is welcome. I am sorry to hear about the initial response you received. I am not clear from your post if it was our Crisis Team or the Local Authority's Targeted City CAMHS Service (which is not managed by us). If it is our Crisis and Home Treatment team, I can only apologise on their behalf. However, I am pleased that your daughter received the support she needed from the Head to Head Team. I hope that your daughter is benefitting from her CBT and I wish you both well in the future.

Angela Walker, Service Manager Specialist CAMHS.

Update posted by Terrifiedmum (a parent/guardian)

Hello.

We received the poor service from the crisis team at CAHMS. The team at Head2Head have been amazing and saved our family by being so supportive and caring and have given us the tools to work through our problems and to support each other through any crisis and we know that if we need their help they will be there for us.
