"Service was efficient and welcoming"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Outpatients Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Urology (Ward 11c)

(as the patient),

Invited for my 6 monthly post cancer surgery CT scan with the venue changed as the QEUH was full to the Golden Jubilee Hospital.

The service was efficient and welcoming, taking time to help me settle and understand what was going to happen.

Friendly staff team and would tolerate the further travel if all my future scans were undertaken here.

Thanks for your kind and professional service.

Concern - Getting results back from Consultant (time and communication)

The only recurring issue is the time it takes the consultant to inform me of my results, despite the scan being sent on the same day. The last scan required a further MRI and it was more than 10 weeks before any response which creates terrible anxiety and a general dip in my mental heath & well-being.

Now I wait…

Dear Do the right thing

Thanks for taking the time to get in touch. I am glad your appointment at the Golden Jubilee went well.

My apologies regarding the length of time it takes for your results. MRI and CT scans needs to be studied by a Radiologist. It takes some time for them to review and analyse the images carefully before writing a detailed report. The report is then sent back to the consultant who referred you for the scan. I appreciate that it can be an anxious time and can affect your health and well-being. If you need help you can call NHS 24 Mental Health Services on 111. If you just need to talk with someone, then the following organisations can help: Samaritans - 116 123 (freephone) and Breathing Space - 0800 83 85 87 (freephone).

Kind Regards

Nicole
