The family unit has undergone some quite complex medical issues over the past couple of years that have required a little more compassion and reassurance. When meeting my GP for the first time, It was great, I felt listened to and reassured. He objected to me travelling a heck of a distance to another hospital but I validated my reasons and showed me empathy. I wasn't judged, or disregarded as some silly middle-aged woman seen or heard enough.
I explained the medical issues and he said " I will have to read my medical notes more in-depth next time!" From a patient that suffers from anxiety and depression that gave me so much peace.
I am also a mum who has a child with quite a few complex issues, and who struggles sometimes, life is so fast-paced.
Recently I rang the surgery and discussed my concerns regarding a family matter and it was acted on immediately. Again, that member of the family was listened to and he has followed every test available to him to help him and overall give coping mechanisms to stay in work.
Overall, it was effective team work, I sincerely thank you for doing what I asked. Sometimes it just the little things we need to be mindful of in order to move forward improving our quality of life,
Thank you!
"Reassurance was given when I met my GP"
