"I felt very safe and well looked after"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Endoscopy

(as a service user),

I recently had a flexible sigmoidoscopy. From the moment I entered the Endoscopy suite all the staff were fantastic, very reassuring and caring.

I'm very difficult to cannulate and was extremely worried that I wouldn't be able to have sedation if they couldn't get it in, but a lovely nurse called Paula put me at ease and got my cannula in.

I'm very grateful for the care I received, nothing was too much trouble for them and I felt very safe and well looked after.

Another lovely nurse (I can't remember his name! I think he was a trainee practitioner?) put me at ease straight away when I was taken through to my bed space by chatting away to me.

The procedure itself was quick (from what I can remember!) The staff during the procedure continued to reassure me and before I knew it I had woken up in recovery, again the nurse looking after me was so kind and got me something to eat and drink.

It's a very busy department but runs so smoothly! They really are so good at what they do! Thank you so much to all at the Endoscopy Suite.

Dear lcnt94

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to share this lovely feedback about the care provided within the Endoscopy Unit, University Hospital Ayr.

It's never pleasant when we have to attend hospital for a procedure, but I am glad to hear that our staff were able to put you at ease whilst you was under their care and that you received such reassuring, friendly and professional care from them.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients and it will be my pleasure to share your kind comments with the wider Team in the Unit and with Paula in particular. I know they will all be delighted to receive this feedback and it will be really encouraging for them to know that you felt so well supported by them.

Please accept my best wishes for your ongoing recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.

Kind Regards

Pamela
