I was recently admitted to the A&E department with AF. The department was extremely busy. I was admitted and spent my first night on a trolley and 2nd night on a chair in a corridor, to which I have no complaints whatsoever. I was then admitted to 1 North ward where I remained until my discharge from the discharge lounge.
I would like to say a massive thank you to the nurses and staff in the A&E department who worked tirelessly and without complaint throughout my time in their care. They were under such great pressure with so many patients, some of whom were extremely nasty, rude and downright disrespectful to the staff, but the staff carried on regardless of the abuse they had to take and carried out their work with a tremendous courteous attitude throughout. They all were really brilliant.
It's just a pity that they have to work under the hard conditions especially with members of the public who show no respect whatsoever to your staff.
The staff in ward 1 North and the dispatch lounge were also brilliant and the nursing and auxiliary staff in 1 North also had to work with an extremely difficult couple of patients, but again carried on with their work duties in a courteous and pleasant manner.
I have nothing but admiration and praise for all the nursing and auxilary staff in the areas I have mentioned. Maybe a few security staff would solve a lot of issues in the A&E department.
"Wonderful staff"
